Soho Pop-In: Ruby Warrington’s Aries Full Moon Workshop

Soho Pop-In: Ruby Warrington’s Aries Full Moon Workshop

Don’t miss your chance to learn more about this month’s full moon and how to selfishly navigate it to your advantage…courtesy of The Numinous’ Ruby Warrington!

In my book Material Girl, Mystical World, I talk about learning to cultivate a sense of healthy “higher selfishness.” That is, knowing when to put your own needs first for the highest good of all involved in any given situation.

Maybe it means saying “no” to bottomless mimosas at brunch Sunday when you want to be on your A-game at work the next day. Even when it’s your BFFs b’day and you know she’ll be offended that you “prioritized” work over her. Perhaps it means asking your Mom for a plant-based option at Thanksgiving. Or skipping the annual family drama fest altogether this year, and booking yourself on a silent meditation retreat.

And well, this week’s Aries Full Moon is an invitation to get super (higher) selfish, and really tap into what it is YOU want. In your deepest of hearts, in an ideal world, and if other people’s needs and opinions really didn’t matter. (Hint: this week, they really don’t).

This Full Moon is opposite the Sun in Libra, sign of balanced negotiations and rational decision making. The message? When it comes to making the most aligned choices, and finding yourself in the healthiest relationships, a solid sense of SELF is a basic requirement. Until you can finish the sentence “I am … ” with confidence, there’s no point even trying to be anything to anyone else.

The October 5 Full Moon also closes a cycle kicked off by the corresponding March 28 Aries New Moon. Look back at your diary and see what was swirling then, and reconnect to what you were cultivating on a personal level. Can you see echoes of these situations asking to be revisited this week? Feeling deeper into this process will help you close out this chapter with the focus on YOUR personal growth. And to move swiftly forward on YOUR unique path.

Thanks to shady Pluto throwing some weight around at this Full Moon, the skies are also aligned to help you transform something you thought was fundamental to your being this week. The way through this portal? (Which might feel just a little edgy btw!) Be fearless. Take action. Start something that matters to YOU.

That way, when we reach the October 19 Libra New Moon, you’ll be ready to say YES to an exciting new collaboration or relationship that presents itself, knowing precisely what you are bringing to the table.

For some extra inspiration, use the below areas for self-enquiry as journal prompts to kick-start your intuition process. Read for both your Sun and Rising sign to get the fullest picture.

Soho Pop-Up: Ruby Warrington’s Pisces Full Moon Workshop

Soho Pop-Up: Ruby Warrington’s Pisces Full Moon Workshop

In NYC on 9/6? In need of knowing how to navigate through the mushy Pisces Full Moon? Stop by Soho and heed the call of The Numinous

The clue is in the name: the week after Labor Day is meant to have that whole back-to-work vibe, as summer officially concludes, the rosé gets put back in the refrigerator for another year, and we resume “real life.” Um, hands up if you’re not exactly feeling it yet.

As we covered in this post, August had some of the craziest ass astrology going down that we’ve seen in a long time, and the aftereffects are still being felt. First of all, if your head is still kinda foggy, you can blame the tail end of Mercury Retrograde (the planet of communication and tech went direct September 5, but the “shadow phase” will last through next week).

Meanwhile, looking ahead to fall, if you feel like Rapunzel emerging from her 100-year sleep, only to find that the world has completely been reorganized while you slept, you can thank two super-potent eclipses, which occurred August 7 and August 29. Life as we know it has shifted on its axis — throwing us off our footing, and instilling a sense that things may never be the same again. As unsettling as it is exciting.

All of which is to say, if you’re unsure even where to begin picking up the threads of your regular routine, you can forgive yourself if it’s taking a little longer than usual. Take your time navigating your way back into your inbox. Give yourself plenty of alone time to process how you’re feeling. And then look to this week’s mushy Pisces Full Moon for a dose of mystically magical inspiration.

The Moon becomes full September 6 at 3.04am ET and at 13 degrees Pisces. Crossing paths with Pisces’ ruling planet, Neptune, this is a super dreamy Moon — meaning, literally, that whatever you dreamed about last night (Tuesday) may contain some super juicy insights, delivered live and direct from mama Cosmos herself.

Whatever you’re intuiting right now is likely spot on, too, so please pay attention to whatever’s in your gut. Yes, the food you’re eating too! The Sun in Virgo right now is urging us back into healthy regimens that may have fallen by the wayside the past few weeks, and actually getting back into some healthy habits can create the emotional and spiritual space to wander into the vast unknown. The place where true inspiration lives, and where you’ll easily be able to vision the right next steps to take (even if logic is trying to lead you down another path entirely).

For a little further inspiration, use the below areas for self-enquiry as journal prompts to kickstart your intuition process. Read for both your sun and rising sign to get the fullest picture.

Soho Pop-Up: Ruby Warrington’s Full Moon Ritual + Workshop

Soho Pop-Up: Ruby Warrington’s Full Moon Ritual + Workshop

The Numinous’ own Ruby Warrington exposes the power of this week’s full moon…

On Monday, August 7 at 2:12pm EST, we experienced a Full Moon in Aquarius. Not just any old Full Moon — this astro event was a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse, and the first of two eclipses shaking up the cosmos in August 2017.

Each and every Full Moon brings with it an ending of sorts. A cycle is completing, and it’s a time to celebrate what we’ve manifested. To get together with friends and share what we’ve learned. And when this coincides with a lunar eclipse, this energy is ramped-up tenfold. The energy is fast and furious. With the Aquarius Full Moon Lunar Eclipse, something was ready to be “eclipsed” out of your life — seemingly overnight — to make room for what will be eclipsed in at the corresponding Leo New Moon Solar Eclipse on August 21.

Factor in Mercury stationing retrograde on August 12 through September 5, and we could be in for a wild ride in the coming weeks.

The best way to navigate eclipse season is to park expectations, loosen your grip on control, and opt to just roll with it. This could feel a little scary at first, as you may find yourself being asked to just trust that whatever is unfolding is absolutely, 100%, for the highest good of all concerned.

And be aware: the biggest shifts will likely be occurring behind the scenes, deep in your subconscious. Yes, this may be reflected by events in the outside world, but pay extra attention now to changes in how you see the world — and your role as a global citizen.

The Aquarius Full Moon Lunar Eclipse (8/7) rules the needs of the collective, while the Leo New Moon Solar Eclipse (8/21) governs our need to be recognized for our personal contribution. The big question this eclipse season? What needs to go, to make room for you to shine brighter and bolder than ever before, and all in service of a better tomorrow?

Use the below journal prompts to dive deeper into the lessons of the Aquarius Full Moon Lunar Eclipse for your sign, reading for both your Sun and Rising sign. If you don’t know your Rising sign, you can calculate it here (look for “AC”) — but you will need your time of birth to the nearest hour.

Soho Pop-In: Ruby Warrington’s Full Moon Ritual

The Numinous’ own Ruby shares key info about this week’s full moon…if you’re in NYC, make a point to learn more at our Soho pop-up, this Thursday at 6pm…

On July 9, 12.09am Eastern time, a Full Moon will appear in the sign of Capricorn.

What does this mean? In astrology, the Moon represents our inner, emotional world, and when she becomes full (yes, the Moon is a “she”— also representing the “mother” in our individual birth charts), it’s like the cosmos is shining a spotlight on this part of our lives.

This means that in the astro calendar, it’s the time of the month to gather with friends for some real talk.

This literally means that the Moon will be in the “Capricorn” part of the sky when she reaches peak fullness — meaning when she is exactly opposite this Sun (currently in the sign of Cancer).

At this moment (12.09am, precisely), the light of the Sun is being beamed directly onto the surface of the Moon, creating the perfect circle of light we see in the night sky when the Moon is “full.” And this month, all that light is being shone on the “Capricorny” stuff the Moon is stirring up for us.

In my studies of astrology, I’ve found it helps to imagine each sign of the zodiac as a specific character — and if the Moon is a super-nurturing mama, always there with a hug and a cup of cocoa, then Capricorn is basically…our boss.

Capricorn rules career, status, responsibilities and structure. He takes us to task and demands that we show up in the world — on time! (And yes, Capricorn is most def divine masculine energy, also representing the “father” in our charts.)

But not because he’s mean. Capricorn can also feel like a college tutor, or older mentor figure — he pushes us because he wants us to succeed and he knows we can do better, damnit! And so with the July 9 Full Moon occurring in his house, we’re being asked to get aware about where we’re ready to put in the work and to STEP. IT. UP.

Also, where our fears may have been keeping us playing small — when we know (and Capricorn knows—ha!) that the world kind of needs us to get over ourselves and go BIG.

Don’t know where to start? The way astrology works means there’s a clue in our Sun and Rising signs about the area of our lives the July 9 Full Moon is doing its cosmic probing. Read on for some Full Moon conversation starters for your sign …

*If you don’t know your Rising sign, you can calculate it here — but you will need your exact time of birth.

What’s the Best Workout for You According to the Zodiac?

What’s the Best Workout for You According to the Zodiac?

The Numinous’ Ruby Warrington and writer Allie White team up to consider what routines best suit your sign…

Workout roulette has never been more popular. With new boutiques popping up seemingly overnight, chain gyms regularly adding classes to their schedules and an embarrassment of riches when it comes to online and app options, you could probably go years without ever repeating a workout. (All the cute outfits you’d get to wear wouldn’t hurt either.)

But if you’re anything like me, constantly swiping through classes and routines can get a little overwhelming. Variety is great and gives your body the opportunity to experience new things, but sometimes you just want a way to sweat that you know you (and your body) will love.

Maybe you have a short attention span and need a workout that constantly changes things up. Or you’re a little high-strung and need 60 solid minutes of mellow flow. Or you’re a social butterfly and prefer group exercise.

If these personality traits sound familiar, I’d bet good money (say, one $45 spin class?) that you’re into your horoscopes. And since you’re already a zodiac believer, why not use it to help determine what kind of workout jives with your sign. After all, from Aries to Pisces, every astrological sign has its likes and dislikes, strengths and weaknesses, information that can help determine your ideal workout.

To help decode what the stars really think our bodies need, I talked to Ruby Warrington, founder of The Numinous, author of Material Girl, Mystical World, and astrology/tarot/zodiac wizardess. Below, you’ll find her suggestions on how, why and when to move for your body based on the wonders of astrology. Now get moving!

ARIES

Ruled by Mars, the Roman god of war, it’s no surprise that Aries needs something quick, exciting and a bit competitive for a workout. According to Warrington, tabata is the perfect way for an Aries to sweat: the fast-paced interval training caters to your short attention span and the timed exercises make things exciting and even let you compete a bit with yourself when it comes to reps.

TAURUS

You’re calm, cool and collected—more patient than any other sign. It’s exactly this patience that makes weight training the perfect workout for  you, Taurus, since weights requires a slow, steady and controlled approach to build strength like your namesake bull. And to feed the part of your sign that likes to feel stable and grounded, try taking your workout outside. Burpees, planks and push-ups in nature use your own body weight and help you connect to the earth.

GEMINI

The social butterfly of the cosmos, it’s super-important that Geminis choose a workout that offers variety and a social aspect or your inner twins will get bored with the monotony and disengage. Since you love to talk, Warrington says tennis is an ideal way to get your sweat on: It’ll kick up your heart rate, keep you on your toes and is basically like a conversation with a racket and ball.

CANCER

As the homebodies of the astrological world, Cancers are more likely to curl up with a good book on the couch than do bicep curls on a weight bench. But, crab friend, this love of home and hearth also means you’re protective of the ones you love and would do anything to defend what you care about. With that in mind, try a boxing class. You may be surprised how good it feels not only to punch the crap out of a bag, but also to gain the skills you need for self-defense.

LEO

Ah, Leo, always the center of attention and life of the party—and for good reason! Everything you do is a masterclass in performing and enjoying yourself, so it’s no surprise that Warrington says to get your butt to a dance class. It’ll feel more like a performance than a workout, and your infectious energy will trickle down to everyone else, basically guaranteeing a party in the studio.

VIRGO

Virgo, virgo, virgo, lover of order, focus and meticulousness (who also needs to chill out sometimes). You’re also a solver, so finding a workout that takes your mind off of fixing things is crucial. Luckily, yoga seems like it was practically invented for virgos: the emphasis on form fulfills the part of you that craves precision and alignment, while the breath work and savasana give you an excuse to chill.

LIBRA

Known for their love of beauty and aesthetic, Libras are less likely to opt for a workout that leaves them sweaty, red-faced and gasping for air. But finding something effective and pretty? That’s a Libra’s sweat sweet spot. According to Warrington, barre workouts let you focus on balance and grace with their ballet-style movements while also toning and lengthening your muscles. What’s prettier than that?

SCORPIO

Intense and laser-focused, Scorpios thrive when they feel like they’re in control. You’re also always up for a challenge and find satisfaction from pushing yourself beyond what you thought was possible. So realizing that you can contort yourself around a Pilates reformer is the ultimate workout, fiery Scorpio. You won’t rest until you’ve perfected the poses and the whole thing will leave you feeling strong and empowered, raring to get back on the reformer ASAP.

SAGITTARIUS

Adventurous, energetic, naturally athletic and a bit competitive, Sagittarians aren’t content with treadmill runs. On the contrary, Warrington says that to really get a great workout, you archers need something more adrenalin-pumping, like skiing or surfing. Activities like these offer killer full-body workouts, check off your risk-taking box and can even fulfill your love of travel. When you can’t jet off to a mountain or ocean, try something like CrossFit, adventure racing or trail running to satiate those adventurous needs.

CAPRICORN

Ruled by no-nonsense Saturn (the god of time and order), Capricorns are disciplined, dependable and committed, so workouts that harness your patience and endurance are ideal. You want to feel like you’ve accomplished something post-workout, which is why Warrington says long-distance running is ideal for you goats. These miles-long runs showcase your stamina and let you commit to pushing yourself.

AQUARIUS

Put an Aquarius in a group environment and they seem to spring to life. Even though you may seem shy and quiet at first, you thrive when it comes to teamwork and group activities. So for your perfect workout, Warrington suggests something that let’s the team spirit you have in spades really shine, like a lively game of softball that’ll have you working together and cheering on teammates.

PISCES

As the wateriest of water signs, dear Pisces, you may literally feel like a fish out of water when exercising on land. So it’s no surprise that your perfect workout is swimming. Not only will it give you an excuse to get your fins wet, but as the most sensitive sign of the zodiac, solo laps offer a chance to focus, calm down and tune out the world around you.

What This Mercury Retrograde Wanted Your Sign To Know

What This Mercury Retrograde Wanted Your Sign To Know

The Numinous’ Ruby Warrington sheds some light on just why we’ve felt so out of whack the past few weeks…visit her in our Soho pop-up at 6pm tonight!

Today we can say buh-bye to another Mercury retrograde phase. Praise be! The planet of communication has been doing its backwards thing since April 9, bringing all the usual crossed wires and techno fails. Or perhaps you realized (as I did) that you’d gone and scheduled a bunch of super important projects for the same week, and wound up (yup, like me!) chasing your tail when you needed to be focused and channeling your A-game.

But guess what? As with all life’s challenges, Merc throws these curveballs our way to make us harder, stronger, faster, yo! In fact, whenever a planet is in retrograde (FYI, Saturn, Pluto and Jupiter are all in retro right now too) it’s kind of like we’re being handed a cosmic test. And with Mercury, this always relates to how we communicate and receive information.

Here’s what this Mercury retrograde wanted your sign to know. How to ace the test? Read the questions for both your Sun and Rising signs below to get a more complete picture, then use them to journal it out and uncover ways to integrate the lessons in your life. (If you don’t know your Rising sign, you can do your chart for free here. You’ll need to know your time of birth to the nearest hour).

Into the Mystic: Ruby Warrington talks The Numinous

Into the Mystic: Ruby Warrington talks The Numinous

The hostess of our astrology workshops in Soho shares her connection with the human experience…

I find it only befitting to first compliment Ruby Warrington’s parents on naming her so appropriately; namely because Ruby is a true gem, her glistening voice and selfless spirit apparent in the first few moments of our meeting. And, not to mention, her unbridled enthusiasm about her MANY projects. There’s The Numinous — the site she founded to corral her love of “all things astrology and esoteric;” Moon Club, a live life-coaching program run by her and partner Alexandra Roxo; her ongoing residency performing astrology/tarot workshops at our Soho pop-up store; AND, not to be forgotten, the imminent arrival — May 2nd — of her first book, “Material Girl, Mystical World.” Needless to say, FP is grateful that she made time to answer a few questions for us, in hopes that you can all bask in a little of Ruby’s love and vision. If you’re in NY next month, consider coming by to attend one of her classes…and look for more content from Ruby in the days and weeks to come. <3

The “Numinous.” What does it mean?

The dictionary definition of “numinous” is: “(adj.) describing an experience that makes you fearful yet fascinated, awed yet attracted—the powerful, personal feeling of being overwhelmed and inspired.” Which totally gives me chills! I use it to describe anything within the realm of human experience that can’t truly be articulated with words…and which makes us aware of being connected to something bigger and infinitely more powerful than ourselves.
Talk to us about “the shift”… What propelled you to focus on the mystic as a full-time venture?
Five years ago I found myself in my dream job as a magazine editor…and so so unfulfilled. On paper, I had achieved everything thing we’re told will make us happy: great job, tons of glamorous perks, “perfect” relationship, a home of my own. And yet I was suffering from accute anxiety and felt like something MAJOR was missing (which I can see now was that I didn’t feel I was contributing anything of value to society). I decided to study astrology as a side project, as it had always been a passion of mine, which in turn let to me creating The Numinous, and writing Material Girl, Mystical World! The later is the story of the personal transformation that occurred along the way, and how to experience a similar awakening yourself.
Your spirit animal is…
A black stallion, and I met him over Skype in 2014 (when I did a guided spirit animal meditation with a shaman based in London!) The stallion represents a strong desire for freedom and an unshakable inner strength.
Your go-to plan when in need of reconnecting with yourself.
I discovered Transcendental Meditation (TM) last year, and practicing this for 20 minutes every morning has helped facilitate a strong ongoing connection to myself—meaning my soul / inner voice, vs. the voices in my head and in the outside world. I also find saying “no” to things I kind of feel like I should do but which don’t actually feel amazing to be a fast and effective way to reconnect to who I truly am!
Best advice you were ever given.
I recently interviewed Bob Roth, CEO of the David Lynch Foundation (and my TM teacher) for Moon Club, an online mentoring program I run that’s an offshoot of The Numinous. He said that to truly live in alignment with our path we must—a) know ourself (i.e. know what we are here to give and what we need to make it happen); b) have conviction (trust that we are on the right path—that is, the path of our highest good); and c) have persistence (expect to be knocked down time and again and be willing to get back up and keep going!) This last piece in particular resonates with me.
